If you're looking for a dive school with a wonderfully family atmosphere, where you're looked after individually and with care, Calypso is exactly right. Great team, great dives from the boat and the beach in the enchanting Tanote Bay. We did our Advanced Adventurer here.
My husband and I did our refresher course with Martina here. We felt at ease from the start, everything explained really well. We then went for 2 more dives on the boat and were lucky enough to even see a turtle. The groups are very pleasantly small.
My wife and I did our Advanced Adventurer here. Our instructor André was really great! Everyone at the school is super friendly and helpful, the equipment is good and available in every size. Highly recommended.

Calypso Diving is a family-run dive school in Tanote Bay, a calm and unspoilt bay on Koh Tao, just ten minutes by scooter from the Mae Haad pier and Sairee village. We have been training divers here since 1999, with the same idea: take the time, in a small group.
In practice that means groups of four people maximum, small dive teams, and instructors who have been here for years and are passionate about marine life. No conveyor-belt courses, no party atmosphere: we are here so you learn well and truly enjoy it.
We also have our own way of doing things. Our boat leaves later than the others, heading to the east coast of the island, to stay away from the other schools and have the dive sites all to ourselves. And because Tanote Bay beach is so well suited to children, we welcome a lot of families.
Whether you have never put your head underwater, are getting back into it after years, or are an experienced diver looking for new spots, you are in the right place. Our team speaks four languages (German, English, French and Spanish), we are an SSI-certified centre, insurance is included in every course, and prices are displayed with no small print.

Frequently asked questions
I've never dived before, is it for me?
Yes, absolutely. The Try Scuba session (2,500 THB) takes place with an instructor right beside you, with no prior certification. You don't need to be athletic: diving is about calm, not strength. We also guide children and people who are afraid of the water, at their own pace.
Do you have multilingual instructors?
Yes. Our team speaks German, English, French and Spanish. We can guide a course from start to finish in your language, briefings included.
Can I book at the last minute?
Yes. We have no fixed time limits and take bookings at the last moment: you can book at 10 am and dive in the afternoon. The best way is to message us on WhatsApp.
Is it suitable for families and children?
Absolutely. Tanote Bay beach is calm and ideal for children. The Bubblemaker welcomes 8-10 year-olds in shallow water, and Try Scuba and Open Water are possible from age 10. We welcome a lot of families.
What are your opening hours and where are you?
We are at Tanote Bay 40/20, Koh Tao, open every day from 8 am to 6 pm, ten minutes from Mae Haad and Sairee Beach.
